Khloé Kardashian’s Team Is Reportedly Scrubbing Candid Photo From Social Media and People Have Thoughts (UPDATE)

The photo, according to a KKW Brands rep, was shared "by mistake" by an assistant. Some have praised the largely unedited aspects of the image.

UPDATED 4/7, 11:59 p.m. ET: Khloé Kardashian has addressed the unauthorized photo of her that surfaced online over the weekend and also talked about the pressures that come along with being in the spotlight.

“Hey guys, this is me and my body unretouched and unfiltered,” Khloé wrote in a multi-part post she shared to Instagram that also featured photos and videos. “The photo that was posted this week was beautiful. But as someone who has struggled with body image her whole life, when someone takes a photo of you that isn’t flattering in bad lighting or doesn’t capture your body the way it is after working to hard to get it to this point – and then shares it to the world – you should have every right to ask for it not to be shared – no matter who you are.

“In truth, the pressure, constant ridicule and judgment my entire life to be perfect and to meet other’s standards of how I should look has been too much to bear. ‘Khloé is the fat sister.’ ‘Khloé is the ugly sister.’ ‘Her dad must not be her real dad because she looks so different.’ ‘The only way she could have lost that weight must have been from surgery.’”

A seemingly candid photo of Khloé Kardashian is at the center of a copyright-centered mini-controversy across multiple social media platforms.

The photo, originally shared over the weekend, was—at least according to comments from a KKW Brands rep included in this Page Six report—shared to social media “by mistake” due to an unnamed assistant. A separate Cosmopolitan report, meanwhile, claimed the photo was first shared by Kardashian’s grandmother Mary Jo “MJ” Shannon.

“The color edited photo was taken of Khloé during a private family gathering and posted to social media without permission by mistake by an assistant,” KKW Brands’ chief marketing officer Tracy Romulus told the Six team. Romulus added that—while “Khloé looks beautiful” in the photo—it is within the rights of the copyright owner to want the image removed.

In recent days, screenshots from the @KosmeticKrys Twitter—an account with more than 26,000 followers that’s focused on plastic, cosmetic, and dental surgery—have received a wave of attention. The screenshots appear to show an email from the Twitter support team showing that the account was locked due to a DMCA complaint in connection with the photo in question.

Kardashian herself, meanwhile, has not publicly addressed any of this.

The photo saga, however, has inspired some to question why her team is working so diligently in removing an image of this nature while others have taken to sharing jokes about what they argue is the unlikeliness of a photo ever being totally scrubbed from social media.

There is a picture of Khloe Kardashian going around the Internet that is completely unedited, that her grandmother posted & it keeps getting taken down & accounts getting locked every time it gets posted, she doesn’t even look bad at all. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

That picture Khloe Kardashian wants removed from the internet is the best pic I’ve seen of her in ages. She looks young and good. I really wish she could see that she looks wayyy better without all that photoshop.
