Will Smith Reacts to Playboi Carti's "OPM BABI" During Stream With Plaqueboymax: 'I Like the Rhythm'
The Oscar-winning actor and Grammy-winning rapper will soon release his first new album in 20 years.
Will Smith has been properly introduced to the limitless joys of Playboi Carti’s “OPM BABI” thanks to Plaqueboymax, who was recently ranked by Complex as one of the most powerful streamers in hip-hop.
Tuesday, Max welcomed Smith to his stream, with their conversation at one point turning to music recommendations. As seen here, Max first asked the Oscar-winning actor and Grammy-winning rapper if he was familiar with Carti’s work, prompting him to mention his son, Jaden Smith.
“I’ve listened to Carti,” he told Max. “Jaden listens to Carti.”
This ultimately led to Max putting on “OPM BABI,” a song off Carti’s MUSIC, which is currently poised for a decidedly massive opening week on the Billboard 200. After a listen, Smith, who will later this month release his first new album in 20 years, gave his assessment.
“I like the rhythm, I like the rhythm,” he said. “I’m a lyricist. So, in a club, that would feel nice, where you’re just vibing.”
After Max noted that Carti “definitely has some lyrical shit” in his catalog, Smith reiterated his praise (“I like the rhythm of that”) before the two made their way to a hilarious conversational aside about the importance of establishing a workout routine.
Elsewhere on the Max stream, Smith hopped in the booth, like so:
Based on a True Story, Smith’s first album since 2005’s Lost and Found, is set to launch March 28. MUSIC, meanwhile, is out now.
